Both get thumbs down. Too heavy, too expensive, too limited, too much bad, complicated tech. You are tied to a dealership for the life of the bike.

I completely agree with your overall ranking. I have a R1250GS and rode the Rr1300GS a couple of times, its crap!

Oh dear, I like your reviews but on this one you are wrong in so many points. Maybe test the bike again and set it up according to your driving style and weight. I am sure you will take many negatives back.

You should ride out of the city more. There aren't many GS's riding what they where intended fore; country roads, mountain roads, mud, gravel, sand. Better keep the christmas tree sparkly!

you for got maintenance and price and upgrades.. too me puts the honda way out front...30 years from now the honda will start, bikes that start are well designed..upgrades if buy the honda..the bike they way you like it.. no hidden cost to it..fast off road buy cr250 it kill both bikes

With a 0-100 km\h time of about 4.75 sec., I really don't understand your complain about performance. In it's category, it is about the best you can get when it comes to acceleration. As for the suspension, I love the way mine is working. With 11,000 km on mine, the only problem I've had so far is the fuel gauge failing. However, it still warns me when the tank gets low. As for the seat, I've seen better, but I've also seen worst. One gripe I have is with the Tuareg's factory luggage rack. Having a flat bar in the middle of the upper tube makes it hard to fit back plates for soft side bags.

Sales says otherwise of your rating. 8 of these bikes can’t go offroad at all, only light gravel travels. Are they adventure bikes or city adventure bikes? And they are on top overall. Is this kids/grandpa adventure rating?

I am riding my new Tenere to Sturgis this year. 800 miles of highway one way

just bought an 800DE.... the only things i don't like is the "parking" light key position, and first gear is a little high for off-road. other than that, the upshifting is awesome (downshifting not so much but still works ok), the ride is great, handles good, the weight is good (even with both side bags on), seat is comfortable, the ABS/Power mode/traction control mode work seemlessly and all have induvidual adjustments that work great.

The Tuareg 660 not reliable? Go for a KTM 790/890 then and tell me about it ....

Is it good for touring?

pointing the obvious weird cons, is like saying its a cone to ride a bike in winter because its cold.

The beamer is about 10k more than the strom. That was my deciding factor.

I think you would be surprised at how well that bike does off road. I got to demo one offroad, and it honestly did great. Really impressed me.

To HDs credit, that bike is actually pretty capable offroad, id qualify it as a real adventure bike. Only rode one offroad during a demo, but they let me jump it lmao, i was fairly impressed

The Ducati wins out on looks. I think the BMW GS is, and always was, a very ugly bike. Since VW took over Ducati, the reliability also improved exponentially. But for everything else, I think the BMW wins out. The most critical issue for me is the shaft drive. How some people intent on touring buy chain-driven bikes is mind-boggling. Maybe it's due to the Japanese seemingly wanting to standardise everything into a parallel twin chain driven common base for motorcycles and, as we know, the Japanese are dominant in the market. The only two Japanese shaft-driven bikes are the Goldwing which is too big for most traffic situations, and the FJR. Honda stupidly discontinued the ST and Deauville models and left the shaft-driven bike market free for BMW's R range and Moto Guzzi.

If BMW only brought back the stripped down, light-weight HP2's, I'd buy one...but not these behemoths...I like to go off-road. These are for Starbuck's, all of them.

When you read the comments here you can see that all the customers bought their 1250 GS for one reason and one reason only 🤣🤣 for the looks and size. There is nothing more in there... comparing to Multistrada V4 or even a Tiger 1200 or Super Adventure S 1290. Because now when the BMW offer them, in many ways, far better bike, they say no way. 😀 But a year before when you asked them "Why GS?" the answer was "Because it is the best" 😂😂 It was just bigger and better looking. As it turns out now, it's not the best it'a just huge (bigger) and better looking but you can not say that to a motor enthusiast when he/she ask you for a reason. 😀 People riding 1250GS are "special" (they want to be different) so they'll keep the price (market) on 1250GS for some time but after that 95% will sell because no one likes to lose money. 😀

So far I've been very impressed with my new Vstrom 800DE. Punchy & playful low end. Electronics UI work flawlessly....keeps all my settings except ABS when it is Disabled. No diving into menus and all info always on the screen. Like someone mentioned, any of the Cons are easily fixable. I ordered a midsize National Cycle Windscreen and there are aftermarket Cruise Control Options as well as aftermarket tubeless wheels. Corbin now has a seat option.

Why does the 2023 1050DE model shown at @19:58 appear to have the lever adjustable windshield when you also clearly say that model is only adjustable with tools?

It's the golden age of motorcycles and hard to go wrong with any of these dream machines. You did a fine job articulating the ergonomics/qualities(pro-cons) of all these bikes. I've owned 57 motorcycles and have experienced all these manufactures. I'd probably have given a similar over ranking as you did.
